The motto of the Clovis Advocacy program comes from Kenny Guinn,
former governor of Nevada. If you are in business, you should
get into politics, or get out of business.
That means that all business owners must be aware of what your
politicians are doing to business.
The Clovis Chamber expects business owners to take part of the
business part. We'll take care of the politics.
Business Advocacy means watching out for and fighting for
business against the tentacles of government. Legislators,
especially here in California, spend hours creating new bills
and legislation to regulate and tax businesses. They don't
understand that when businesses are left alone to do business,
they prosper, create high incomes and pay more taxes to the
general fund.
And the extra employees they hire pay additional taxes.
Instead, fees and regulations stifle business and lower profits
that hurts the general fund. Legislators panic, raise taxes
higher and the cycle continues.
The Clovis Chamber Advocacy program is a small, but rugged group
of people who focus in on the most onerous bills and issues. The
program consists of three committees.
