The Public Policy Committee studies and researches quality of
life issues such as transportation, air quality, sewer and water
issues, economic vitality, schools and city government. Its
responsibilities are to perform due diligence on these issues.
In 2002 and 2003, it played an instrumental part in the decision
making by the City of Clovis for the new state of the art sewer
treatment plant.
The committee held meetings with city officials and other
experts and visited several treatment plants in other cities.
The city listened to the Chamber's conclusions and implemented
several into their final plans.
In 2004, the Chamber actively participated in the garbage fee
hike decision by working with the city's consultant and speaking
at City Council meetings.
The Public Policy Committee meets only when specific issues
arise.
